Mission

Our Mission is to connect people to Christ and His Church and engage one another on the journey to maturity.

Welcome

Who Are We?  Our church was founded in 1977 as an extension of First Baptist Church, Brampton and as a church plant of the Baptist Convention of Ontario & Quebec (B.C.O.Q.) and the Guelph Association of Baptist Churches.  We are affiliated as a member church with Canadian Baptist of Ontario & Quebec( C.B.O.Q. formally known as B.C.O.Q )   Together we seek to engage in vibrant worship, meaningful fellowship, growth through study, and expressing our gifts and talents through service and mission as community of Christ followers.

What do we believe?  We believe that Jesus Christ and His provision of salvation is for all nations and for all people.  Our  Statement of Faith summarizes twelve core beliefs of Heart Lake Baptist Church.  If you have any questions we would be glad to dialogue with you.  Email us or call us.

Yearly Ministry Plan  Each year we develop a Ministry Plan to highlight some of the areas that we believe God would have us focus on.  It is not a summary of everything that takes place but a guide for some key areas of focus and development.  It is our continued prayer that we will not be known as a building but a people in the process of following God by the guidance of the Spirit.  As you read this, pray along with us for God's guidance and empowerment.

Our Staff

SENIOR PASTOR

Hi.  I’m Ed McLean and have been the Senior Pastor at Heart Lake since October 1998.  I’m married to Linda and have 3 children who are wonderful young adults.

Although I was born and raised in southern Ontario, I was out West for 9 years where I did my theological training at Regent/Carey theological school, and then was on staff at the Baptist Leadership Training School in Calgary.  In 1990 our family moved to northern Ontario where I was the pastor for 8 years at First Baptist, Sudbury before coming here to Heart Lake.

The last years at Heart Lake have been an exciting journey of learning and growth.   We all need a community of love and truth where we can discover the love of God and grow in His transforming ways.  There are many misunderstandings about Christianity and the Church that abound in our culture.   It is our goal to pursue the truth in such a way that it liberates people from what is bringing harm into their lives and together become an increasingly God honouring, people shaping, world changing community of faith.  Knowing Jesus and making Him known is central to that pursuit.   The scriptures are our authority and guide.  I would love for you to join us in this journey.

ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Hello! I’m Rob Sellitto the new Associate Pastor at Heart Lake. In August of 2010 my family and I took on the challenge and adventure of joining this wonderful Church community.

I am originally from Montreal and moved to the Toronto area to attend school in 2001. Though I have missed living in a city with a great hockey team, I’ve loved being in Ontario and hope that the Battalion can fill the void in the meantime. I have been married for 7 years to my wife Jill and together we have 2 great kids, Isaac and Nevaeh.

I have served in churches in Toronto, Montreal and Mississauga and am anticipating a great journey in Brampton with Heart Lake. My main focus as Associate Pastor will be oversight of the children’s programs, working with the students in high school and junior high, and spending time with the young adults and families in the church. My desire is to help guide and coach students and families to understand their identity and purpose in Christ and strengthen their relationships with God and each other.
